Everyone who decided to make repairs at home is faced with this problem. If at first glance it seems like a simple occupation, then in reality everything does not work out so easily.
So, you have acquired linoleum, now it remains only to lay it. The first thing to start with is the preparation of the floor, or rather its surface. This should be made a special emphasis. The fact is that linoleum itself is a very soft and elastic material that will not just hide the irregularities of the floor, but can even emphasize them once again, so the surface on which it will fall should be as even as possible.
The surface of the wooden floor can be treated with a rubbish or a special grinding machine. At the same time, although it is undesirable, the presence of small cracks in the floor is allowed, the large ones must be closed with putty on wood. If the surface has significant changes in level, then it must be leveled. To do this, wood -fiber slabs creep on the floor, which are fixed with screws or simply glued. In the case of fastening with self -tapping screws, their hats must be drowned in the surface, and then close the formed hole with putty. She is shown in the joints between the plates.
If you are going to lay linoleum onto the concrete floor, then it is aligned or plywood, or grind it, or create bulk floors. I advise you the first two methods, since the bulk floors will have to be made with a thickness of more than 5 mm, due to the fact that it is unstable to mechanical loads. Therefore, the costs will be much higher.
The next step will be the opening of linoleum. It can be made to you in the store, or you can do this procedure yourself. For this, linoleum is spread on the floor so that it can straighten up completely. You can even walk on it. A few days later, we move the linoleum closer to the wall and begin to cut, given the wiper of a few centimeters. This is necessary to compensate for the shrinkage of the material. To fix linoleum for a while can be crushed by cargoes. If you lay linoleum with a pattern, then do not forget about it when cutting. After all, you must agree: the drawing will look much more beautiful as a single whole.
No matter how good and high -quality linoleum is in your house, remember that it still needs additional protection. When cleaning, try not to use the means containing aggressive chemicals from which linoleum can darken and crackle. Cover the bedding material with special polishes, and most importantly – do not have the habit of moving heavy and bulky furniture on it, as its legs leave traces and can even break linoleum.
