Models differ in purpose, technical characteristics, and intensity of use.
There are three types:
Amateur (household)
They are relatively light and compact, have a minimal vibration level and are easy to use. The power is usually within 1.5 kW. This is the best option if you choose an inexpensive and good household chainsaw for your home. Suitable for small construction, pruning or cutting down trees in the garden, preparing firewood, and other similar work. The engine life of such models is designed for irregular and short-term use and averages up to 20-30 hours per month.
Semi-professional
Such chainsaws are also called farmer’s. Their power can reach 3 kW, they are larger compared to household models and have higher productivity. Semi-professional chainsaws are in demand by agricultural and farming enterprises, they are used by public utilities for cutting and trimming trees in city parks. They can be used in construction and logging, provided that they are used in a gentle mode.
Professional
Such units are adapted to the most intensive use and extreme loads. Their power reaches 6 kW, they can work almost continuously throughout the entire 8-hour work shift. Professional chainsaws are used by logging complexes, woodworking enterprises, they are indispensable when felling timber on an industrial scale. As for private farmsteads, it makes sense to buy such a model only when carrying out large-scale construction from thick logs, for example, a cottage.
