Some time ago, steel was the only material from which it was possible to manufacture pipes for gas pipelines. Not only pipes are made of metal, but also other elements of the gas supply system (for example, the Dorot membrane valve of the series 100). Today, serious competition is polyethylene for him.
Compared to steel, polyethylene has increased resistance to the destructive effects of all kinds of chemical compounds and other environmental factors. Polyethylene pipes have good plasticity and high strength – due to this, they are possible even in the most severe climatic conditions. Polyethylene retains at a temperature of up to -45 ° C.
Electrochemical destruction is also not terrible from polyethylene pipes, since plastic does not conduct electric current. The pipes are thus non -consuming to wandering currents. So, they do not need additional protection before laying them in the ground.
Finally, another advantage of plastic pipes lies in their lightness: they are about 7 times easier than steel. The supply of such pipes is carried out in special compact bays – transportation of them is not difficult.
