Laying stone with glue joints

Today there are a huge number of varieties of mixtures and adhesives for natural stone. Only a specialist in this matter can choose a good composition, as you should take into account different features of the stones, as well as the weight of the plate, and operating conditions. There are general rules, the knowledge of which will help you in choosing.

First of all, it is recommended for the use of a professional mixture, and in addition, glue solutions specially designed for stones. Professional from simple solutions differ in that they contain special additives, as well as fillers. Such additives can be used to neutralize salts, which can be in water.

Limestone, and besides it, also a dolomite-track flour can add to a professional mixture. Such additives are used to make white stones laying. Thermal expansion, as well as the moisture absorption of these compositions is the same as that of the stone. When connecting stones with such material, there will be no rejection, and there will be no stratification. It should be said that good glue can only be bought for good money, but its composition will provide quality, and in addition, the integrity of the cladding.

There are several types of stones, depending on porosity and moisture absorption.

The first type is slightly porous. They absorb natural moisture very little. These include granite and gabbro. In addition to them, they also include – Gneys and slate. You can use almost any compositions to them, since they are not afraid of moisture.

The second type is mid -porous. They belong to breeds that mediumly pleasing moisture. This type includes light granite and sandstone. They also include dark -color marble. They are recommended to be laid on a light composition.

The third type is porous. This type absorbs humidity very well. They cannot be laid on the water composition. This type of stones is: white marble and white granite. In addition to them, such stones are also – limestone and travertine. They should be laid on anhydrous, and in addition, light adhesives. Others are not recommended, because after they dry, the pores will be full of dirt, which cannot be removed.

To neutralize moisture, you should do the priming of the stone plate from the back side. Of course, this requires additional funds and time. But I must say that such costs fully justify themselves and pay for. Priming will protect the stone from yellowing and the appearance of stains.
