Over time, the original type of tile can change. Small chips may appear, the seams between the tiles can crack or turn black, the pattern will become less bright and beautiful. All this of course happens over time, but all these problems are solved. It is not necessary to remove the old tiles and glue the new one, you can try to restore it.
Let’s look at each of the reasons for the aging of the tile separately, and try to figure out how to solve the problem.
Ground or seaming aging
This is perhaps one of the most common problems of tiles that can be easily solved. A couple of years, after laying tiles on the floor or walls, grouting seams will have a original appearance, but gradually, under the influence of moisture and dust, they will lose their whiteness and become gray or black. Therefore, we should update grout seams.
So, in order to update the seams to us, you must first treat them with a solution of vinegar. Then remove the old grout with the help of a tool convenient for you. Remove the grout carefully so as not to damage the tile. Then we prepare a new grout, and already with its help we grind the seams.
For grout, prepare a sponge and a special embroidery for grouting. Apply a grout in the seams in an even layer, immediately after application, go through the tile sponge and remove excess grouting. This must be done right away, otherwise the grout will dry out, and it will need to be scrape.
Another simplest way to update the seams in ceramic tiles is their painting acrylic emulsion.
Restore damaged tiles
If cracks or chips appear on some tiles, it can be replaced by a new one, of course, if you have it. Next tiles with damage, carefully remove grouting seams and drill a few hole in the center of the damaged tile. Then, using a hammer, split and remove the tile, and glue a new one in its place. Of course, we need a little tile glue. After the tile is glued, you can wipe the seams.
In such simple ways, you can return the tile to the original appearance. Remember, you need to monitor the tiles, wash it thoroughly so that over time, a plaque does not appear on it. The seams do not update for long and will take very little time, but changing the tile will be completely difficult.
